Bio

Apocalypse Rex began as the brainchild of Nathan Michael.  Taking influence from various styles of music, Apocalypse Rex blends haunting synths, stomping percussion, breakbeat, and somber piano melodies to create a style all his own.

As a child Nathan’s family introduced him to a number of different musical acts, of those the one most readily remembered is Dave Brubeck’s ‘Take Five’.  “Take Five was always playing at our house growing up.  That album has a magic to it.  No matter how many times you listen to it the songs never get old.  It is wild, imaginative, yet incredibly accessible.  There is nothing else quite like it.”

Nathan began recording music around 2005. Many years, and many songs later Apocalypse Rex emerged in 2017.  Originally the project was aimed at mixing various elements of the 1980’s with a more psychedelic side of synthesizers.  The title track on his EP Bossanova Psychedelic combined elements of Jaga Jazzist with various Synthwave artists.  However, shortly afterward Nathan adopted a no holds barred approach to song creation and as Apocalypse Rex has matured the project has embraced all of Nathan’s off kilter eccentricities.

2026 sees Apocalypse Rex complete his first album: Fantastic Hallucinations.  A ride through multiple  haunting and chaotic dreamscapes and ethereal bliss.  The final release date is yet to be determine, but it will arrive soon enough.
